Job Description:
Prepares bread, rolls, muffins, and biscuits according to recipe: Checks production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake. Measures ingredients, using measuring cups and spoons. Mixes ingredients to form dough or batter by hand or using electric mixer. Cuts dough into uniform portions with knife or divider. Molds dough into loaves or desired shapes. Places shaped dough in greased or floured pans. Spreads or sprinkles topping, such as jelly, cinnamon, and poppy seeds on specialties. Places pans of dough in proof box to rise. Inserts pans of raised dough in oven to bake, using peel. Adjusts drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperature. Removes baked goods from oven and places goods on cooling rack. May bake pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries [COOK, PASTRY (hotel & rest.)]. May be designated according to specialty baked as Baker, Biscuit (hotel & rest.); Hot-Bread Baker (hotel & rest.); Can assist with buffet hot line from time to time .

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Education Preferred:
* High School diploma.
* Ability to train and follow recipes.
* Local Health Department sanitation certificate.
* Mobility and dexterity to move large, heavy objects.
* 6 months prior experience as a cook or cook’s helper.

Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to work inside a kitchen and on a line during entire shift.
* Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the kitchen.
* Must be able to tolerate areas with extreme hot and cold temperatures.
* Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
* Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 300 pounds.
* Must possess coordination and dexterity to use kitchen utensils such as knives, spatulas, food tongs, etc. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, push, and pull when rotating stock and cleaning work area.
* Must be able to operate the following kitchen equipment: stoves, grills, fryers, and other utensils in preparing food orders.
* Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
* Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English and be able to conduct conversations with peers in a distinctive and persuasive manner.

Licensing and Certification Required:
Employees may be required to obtain a Missouri Gaming Commission license. The initial license is paid for by the employee through payroll deduction. All subsequent renewals for the license are paid by Harrah’s North Kansas City.
