Job Description
Overall Purpose of Job Role:
Our client is seeking a Senior Vmware Administrator who specializes in all facets of VM architecture including: VMWare ESX Server, SAN, ESX Server 3rd party products.

Our client is the exclusive development, operations and marketing services supplier to one of the world’s largest online poker sites. The successful candidate will join the team which has responsibility for dealing with both their internal corporate environment as well as supporting their customer’s production and development environment. The production environment they support uses proprietary software developed in house, and operates in a 24x7x365 market.

The successful candidate will ideally also have skills in clustering, load balancing, and monitoring technologies. Networking experience with Cisco or Juniper systems, whilst not an absolute requirement, is a distinct advantage. Successful candidates will be working with a highly talented team of technical engineers in a challenging and rapidly evolving environment. Adaptability and the ability to think on one’s feet are absolute requirements along with an ability to evaluate and respond to technically complex problems.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
* Design, deployment and support of a highly available VMware infrastructure
* Enterprise virtualization skills and experience with server migrations
* Ongoing performance tuning of the VMware platform as it’s related to the HW and the applications hosted on the solution
* Pro-active monitoring of VMware infrastructure
* Documenting VMware procedures
* Develop architecture standards
* Research, evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to address emerging business and technical needs

Skills / Experience Required:
* Minimum 4-7 years experience working in a large enterprise environment.
* Expert knowledge in a minimum of 4 of the following areas: - Vmware, Infrastructure 3.5, Virtual Center, Windows Server 2003, San and NAS based storage systems specifically NetApp\Qlogic
* A broad range of technical skills with a desire to develop and expand those skills
* Self motivated to better the environment
* Leadership skills
* Able to design, implement and document solutions
* Pro-actively take ownership of solution design through implementation
* Broad experience with many IT services
* Open to new technologies and be eager to learn them
* Customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels

Following experience or attributes are highly desirable:
* Linux/Unix
* Cisco, Juniper or HP Switches
* Load Balancing hardware, with F5 or Citrix Netscaler
* 24x7x365 high availability systems experience
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
