Job Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Wine Steward is responsible for ensuring the wine program, inventory, and all controls are properly maintained. Trains servers in proper wine standards and knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures wine service standards are met and maintained in the Wine Cellar. Oversees all wine and wine related operations including assisting with monthly inventory, purchasing/receiving, pricing, reconciliation and sales. Maintains wines list including printing, re-writing (vintage changes) and daily descriptions essential to functioning restaurant. Manages daily revenue, costs and expenses for wine sales. Assists in managing pricing and cost of goods, making recommendations for improvements. Improves overall wine revenues as well as costs. Ensures consistent, high-quality service standards are maintained in outlet. Maintains service guidelines set for the operation. Is knowledgeable about the menu and answers guest questions. Takes responsibility for handling guest complaints, resolving with or without management approval. Ensures that all areas are kept clean and in proper condition to provide a safe working environment for employees. Responds to guest inquiries about other events in the casino such as special events, shows etc.

Job Specifications
* Work requires 1 year prior Wine Stewarding / Sommelier experience.
* Must have extensive knowledge of Old World / New World Wines.
* Beginning / Advance Sommelier Certificate preferred.
* Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
* Must present a neat and professional appearance.
* Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers.
* Work requires teamwork with other staff members.
* Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Working Conditions
Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public. Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 20lbs repeatedly. Shifts may vary. Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner. Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
