JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Buffet Manager supports the Buffet Manager responsible for monitoring and leading the daily buffet floor operations that include all FOH areas: Server Section areas, Cashier Stand, Busser Stations and Maitre/Host areas to ensure that the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved by all employees and the cleanliness of the buffet is maintained.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Sets the example for employees to follow.
* Assist in preparation of weekly work schedules and maintains adequate staffing needs.
* Maintains Restaurant standards and effectively enforces policies and procedures.
* Helps develop goals to improve employee productivity, reduce costs, etc., and implements programs to achieve those goals.
* Assists in providing training and guidance to new and existing employees.
* Maintains employee files information (i.e., positive guest comments, appropriate disciplinary documentation, attendance, etc.).
* Prepares daily restaurant reports (revenue, labor, call-in log, promo tracking, buffet promotions, etc.).
* Ensures restaurant maintenance in accordance with established health and safety standards.
* Conducts table visits consistently throughout shift to build rapport/relationships with guests.
* Resolves guest and employee complaints in a professional and fair manner.
* Assist in interviewing potential candidates for employment in restaurant.
* Attends all mandatory departmental and company meetings/ training classes.
* Ensures completion of employee evaluations every six months and on annual basis.
* Creates and leads continuous customer service and employee workplace improvements and initiatives.
* Maintains an upbeat and positive attitude everyday throughout the course of the entire assigned shift.
* Monitors food quality and food line presentations of buffet.
* Keep open communications with BOH Staff, correcting any issue that affects FOH.
* Always speaks positively about the company and fellow co-workers, especially in the presence of our front-line employees.
* Supports Buffet Manager on any assigned administrative responsibilities.
* Rewards and recognizes employees for observed positive behavior.
* Communicate with the outgoing Buffet Supervisors to ensure that a thorough pass down of information between the shifts takes place.
* Monitors and reviews station assignments and daily break schedule(s) to ensure adequate floor coverage for the entire shift.
* Conducts ongoing Server Section inspection, Cashier Audits, Pro Host System at Maitre’d Station and Bussing areas to insure all is running smoothly.
* Monitors accuracy of Kaizen Board, conducting specific audits and updating charts for Gambia Walks.
* Communicates with the Buffet Supervisors to maximize section coverage, increase flow of customer into restaurant that improves customer service.
* Ensures consistency of section rotation.
* Conducts a thorough walkthrough of buffet area making specific notes of the following: Micros and Pro Host system operations, cleanliness of the restaurant, broken chairs, supplies needed, employee interactions, table touches with customers, and equipment operation failures.
* Assist in presenting upbeat and energetic “In the Know” Sessions for Buffet FOH employees.
* Help to develop plans, actions and standard operating procedures for the operation and administration of the buffet.
* Touches base with each employee at least once during the day to inquire about their satisfaction; ensures they have all of the tools necessary to do their job; and asks about any concerns, issues, or suggestions they may have. Seeks to resolve any of these issues at some point during the shift or at a minimum makes manager aware and see if they are able to assist.
* Is a model for Spotlight on Success and observes employees in their interactions specifically looking for the behaviors. Addresses any behaviors that are not present.
* Seeks out service breakdowns (long wait times) and proactively issues resolution to regain satisfaction.
* Holds staff accountable for Cash Handling compliance guidelines and department policies/procedures.
* Ensure employees hours are approved in Timeworks daily in addition to resolution of any payroll issues and approval of PTO are completed, in addition to updating attendance points.
* Ensures Revenue Audit Exceptions are investigated and answered by deadlines, holding employees accountable according to Variance Guidelines.
* Completes Performance Reviews on direct reports.
* Review Bulletin Board material to make certain bulletin board communications are up to date with valuable information for employees.
* Helps to provide guidance on coaching employees and issues ongoing corrective feedback or performance documentation as need for the things they can do better or differently.
* Holds management direct reports accountable for job expectations including fairness and consistency of policies and procedures.
* Provides assistance in performing Kiosk drops/fills as needed.
* Monitors on-boarding process through restaurant and gives quick solutions to increase flow of customer seating and quick table turns as needed.
* Makes certain telephone inquires from cross departments are answered in a timely and professional manner.
* Processes supply ordering as needed
* Ensures that all employees are using proper radio etiquette and being respectful to each other on the radio at all times.
* Provides positive feedback to employees for the things they do well.
* Inspect storage rooms, utility, credenzas and side stations for supply control and notifies someone of shortage.
* Assure staff follows established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
* Issues progressive discipline to employees for variances, attendance points, exceptions, and performance issues in a timely manner.
* Complete any and all other job duties as assigned
